Competition can be terrifying. Competition in golf can be even more terrifying for your juniors. Everything is on them. There are no teammates to fall back on, and they are humans who make mistakes. Competition tends to bring out these mistakes in a lot of juniors. There are so many things that can go awry when the heat is on: they can choke under pressure, make tactical errors, make emotional errors, miss agonizingly short putts in crucial situations, and make a myriad of mistakes that you’ve never seen them make before. When the competition is over, many juniors feel dejected, insignificant, and are visibly shaken – or even mentally scarred - by the incident.
